Sažetak
Ovaj rad ispituje prvi postojeći primer medikalizacije ljubavi u rimskoj književnosti. U Plautovom Kovčežiću (Cistellaria), ljubav nije zamišljena samo kroz konvencionalnu komičnu prizmu erotske želje, već kao psihosomatski poremećaj, izražen kroz simptome koji zamagljuju granicu između mentalnog poremećaja i telesne bolesti. Analiza pokazuje kako Plaut integriše medicinsko i popularno znanje kako bi konstruisao model ljubavi koji je antička publika mogla prepoznati kao patološki. Ova medikalizacija strasti služi izrazito književnoj svrsi: utemeljujući emocije u fizičkim i kognitivnim simptomima, Plaut daje psihološku dubinu i kredibilitet svojim protagonistima. Autoritet medicinske misli tako legitimiše ono što komedija obično trivijalizuje, iskrena osećanja i istinsku patnju. Cistelarija se pojavljuje kao studija slučaja o tome kako je rimska književnost prisvojila naučni diskurs kako bi potkrepila i oblikovala narativnu koherentnost. Studija smešta ovu medikalizaciju strasti unutar širih antičkih diskursa o bolestima i afektima, otkrivajući kako Plautova komedija učestvuje u kulturnom prevođenju medicinskog znanja.
